More than half of the electricity produced in Portugal in the first eight months of the year came from renewable sources, making Portugal the fourth country in Europe with the highest share of renewables in electricity production. Ahead of them are Norway, Austria and Denmark, which respectively obtain 99.3%, 80.5% and 77.2% of their electricity from renewable sources.
Released this Monday, the renewable electricity bulletin drawn up by the Portuguese Renewable Energy Association (APREN) states that 27,822 GWh of electricity were produced in Portugal from January to August 2022, of which 54.6% came from renewable sources.
